IFR srl and Michel Verscheure Transport, both MTOs, have announced a commercial partnership in the raw material and semifinished products logistics.
Both operators are currently providing logistics services for top-range multinationals and they have created a new multimodal line connecting Belgium and Italy.
After the initial test, which lasted few months, the two partners showed that commitment to the Multimodal Transport brought positive externalities as well as a reduction of the logistic costs, two key factors for global trade players.
Goods and raw materials are stored in containers which are then loaded on trains that service a line of 1,500 kms of rail connecting Antwerp (Belgium) to Pescara (Italy). Once arrived to the Abruzzo Freight Village, containers are then stored on dedicated and geo-localized spaces in the terminal.
From there, with a daily transport plan, containers reach with a daily service the production plant. This logistic stream is supplying directly the production lines, removing fragmentation factors.
This is just one of the multiple models which can balance the sustainability factors (economical, social and environmental).
Considering only this logistic route, the two partners have declared that there will be a yearly reduction of 2,848 tons of CO2 emissions compared to the traditional only truck services.
